About Me

Evelyn Sherrill Martinez: I am a mom to 4 kids. 3 of them have Cystic fibrosis. (CF) is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive systems of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States (70,000 worldwide). A defective gene causes the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus that: - clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections - obstructs the pancreas and stops natural enzymes from helping the body break down and absorb food. Statistics * About 1,000 new cases of cystic fibrosis are diagnosed each year * More than 80% of patients are diagnosed by the age of three * At least 40% of the CF patient population is age 18 or older * In 2005, the median age of survival was nearly 37 years Almost 60 years ago, few children with cystic fibrosis lived to attend elementary school. Today, advances in research and medical treatments have further enhanced and extended life for children and adults with CF. Many people with the disease can now expect to live into their 30s, 40s and beyond.

Matthew-G tube

Prevacid twice daily
Creon 12 3 with meals and snacks
Albuterol 2 times daily via nebulizer
Hypertonic Saline once daily via nebulizer
Pulmozyme once daily via nebulizer
MCT Procal
ADEK vitamins once daily
Periactin twice daily
Vitamin D once daily

Abigail-Port and CFRD

Creon 24 3 with meals and snacks
Altuberol 3 times daily via nebulizer
Hypertonic Saline once daily via nebulizer
Pulmozyme twice daily via nebulizer
ADEK vitamins two tablets daily
Singulair 5 mg once daily
Rhinocort Nasal Spray twice daily
Vitamin D twice a week
Levamir insulin 10 units once daily
Humalog insulin as needed
Pulmicort Flexhaler twice daily
Vitamin D daily
Inahled Vancomycin/Colistin alternating monthly
Vitamin K Monday, Wednesday, Friday
Prevacid once daily
Port flush monthly

Michael-Central Line and JG tube

Creon 12 3 with meals and snacks
Albuterol 4 times daily via nebulizer
Pulmozyme twice daily via nebulizer
Pulmicort twice daily via nebulizer
ADEK vitamins two mls daily
Singulair 5 mg once daily
Vitamin D daily
Iron supplement 27 mgs daily
MCT Procal
3.5% Hypertonic Saline via nebulizer twice daily
5 cans 2 cal HN daily
Inhaled Vancomycin/Colistin alternating monthly
Azithromycin Monday, Wednesday, Friday
Carafate 10 mls three times daily
Reglan 3.8 mls four times daily
1 Liter of oxygen all night and as needed
Port flush monthly
